Intro
This listserv (NHNM-L) is dedicated to the use of Microsoft
Access databases for conservation purposes The target group is
the Heritage program/CDC/NatureServe network (all divisions),
but interested people in TNC, management, or other conservation
organization are encouraged to join as well.. Main topics include
how to get Access to do specific things and how to code certain
functions. Broader discussions are also encouraged including topics
such as how to deal with specific conservation needs and general
databasing theory and design. Unless their are notable abuses,
the particulars of discussion topic will be left to the discretion
of members. Please feel free to post to the list, respond to the
postings of others and encourage others to join the list.
Most NHP/CDCs use Access databases for one purpose or another,
sometimes in the data management division, but a lot of times
not. Please pass on information about this list to anyone in your
program or allied programs who might have an interest. The goal
of this list is to reduce the time and energy we spend reinventing
the wheel, doing dumb computer stuff and banging our head against
the keyboard after sleuthing a technical or design problem for
the third hour, day, or month in a row. It is hoped that this
might leave us with a better attitude and perhaps a few more resources
to put toward our conservation efforts : - )

You Can Also Use Email Commands
To send a message to all the people currently subscribed
to the list use the list address: nhpaccess-L@MAILLIST.UNM.EDU.
To leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF nhpaccess-L"
command to LISTSERV@LIST.UNM.EDU.
Place the command in the body of the message and do not include
a subject or a signature. To subscribe or resubscribe do
the same thing with the command SUBSCRIBE.
If you wish to receive the digested version of the postings,
just send a "SET nhpaccess-L DIGEST" command to LISTSERV@LIST.UNM.EDU.
More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the LISTSERV
reference card, which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO REFCARD"
command to LISTSERV@LIST.UNM.EDU.
Accessing Archived Files: Contributions sent to this list
are automatically archived. You can get a list of the available
archive files by sending an "INDEX nhpaccess-L" command to LISTSERV@LIST.UNM.EDU.
You can then order these files with a "GET nhpaccess-L LOGxxxx"
command, or using LISTSERV's database search facilities. Send
an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the latter.
Message Receipt Settings: You can also tell LISTSERV how
you want it to confirm the receipt of messages you send to the
list. The default is that LISTSERV will send you a copy of your
own messages. After a while you may find that this is getting
annoying. If you send a "SET nhpaccess-L ACK NOREPRO" command,
LISTSERV will mail you a short acknowledgement instead, which
will look different in your mailbox directory. You can turn off
acknowledgements and self-copy completely with "SET nhpaccess-L
NOACK NOREPRO".
For more information about subscription options, send
a "QUERY nhpaccess-L" command to LISTSERV@LIST.UNM.EDU.
Place the command in the body of the message and do not include
a subject or a signature.
